Two New Dovetail Bars
for Takahashi Telescopes

If you are using Takahashi clamshell rings, or a Mewlon 250, I think you will find these dovetail bars very useful. The dovetail part is the same as on Losmandy D (G-11) dovetail bars, and fit my DoveEM, DoveNJP, and standard dovetail saddles. The overall bar is only 3" wide because the extra width is not needed for the M-250 or Takahashi clamshell saddles. The bars are machined from 3/4" stock with all surfaces machined to remove surface blemishes and stresses (thus preventing warpage). The final thickness is 0.650 in.

14" EM Dovetail Bar

For Mewlon 250, or EM Clamshell Rings

This dovetail bar was designed to bolt directly onto the Mewlon 250 with four stainless steel M6 socket head cap screws (we provide screws). The hole pattern is 48mm x 82mm and may fit other Takahashi OTAs. This bar allows more DEC balancing capability without adding weights to the OTA.

Or, it can be used with one or two Takahashi clamshell rings. Two rings will provide a more rigid setup for imaging with larger refractors (two sets of M8 screws provided). The centered mounting holes make it possible to use a single clamshell ring on an NJP mount equipped with my new 14" DoveNJP saddle.
